Name and date on exam photographs
Several Indian recruitment and exam notices ask for the candidate's name and the date the photograph was taken to appear on the photo. How the label on this site is made, how it stays under a form's KB limit, and why the notice always has the last word.
Open the placing toolBoth files stay on your device — we only draw one on top of the other.
What goes on the label
Two lines on a white band: the name, usually in capitals, and the date of photograph — the date the picture was taken, not the date of the application — written DD-MM-YYYY unless the notice asks otherwise. The name-and-date page opens with both lines already on the photo and a band 18 per cent of the photo's height.
Inside or below
Inside the photo, the band covers the bottom of the picture, so the face has to sit high enough to stay clear of it. Below the photo, the band is added under the picture and the file grows taller to hold it. Notices differ; where yours shows an example, match it.
Staying under the KB limit
The form limits on the page start from a reported figure or a generic small limit, and every one is marked “check your notice” because none has been verified against an official notice. Set the largest file and the width your notice gives. On save, JPG quality comes down first; the pixel size only shrinks if quality alone cannot reach the limit, and the saved line says which happened. The height follows the width, so nothing is squashed.
In short
- Label
- Name over date of photograph, on a white band.
- Date format
- DD-MM-YYYY by default; others selectable.
- Placement
- Inside the photo or below it.
- Limits
- Largest KB and width, from presets marked “check your notice”.
- Nothing here can promise that a portal will accept a file. The official notice for your exam decides the size, the format and what the label must say.
- A photo that was too small or too blurred to begin with does not become acceptable by being labelled.
Questions
- Which date goes on the photo?
- The date the photograph was taken, unless your notice says otherwise.
- Inside the photo or below it?
- Whichever your notice shows. Inside keeps the file's size; below makes it taller.
- Will the portal accept it?
- We cannot promise that. Check the notice for your exam and set its numbers; the page only reaches the limits you give it.
